Kenny Pickett got his first start of the 2024 regular season versus the Dallas Cowboys because Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion in Week 16. Hence, the former Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback showed the rest of the league that he still has what it takes to be a starter in the NFL.
However, Pickett suffered broken ribs in the game against the Cowboys. Let's examine Pickett's injury status following the matchup.
Kenny Pickett's injury update
According to AP News, Kenny Pickett is optimistic about quickly recovering after getting hurt against the Dallas Cowboys in the Eagles' Week 17 win. Pickett left the game in the third quarter after dealing with injuries to his ribs.

Following the game, he told reporters:
"I’m good. I will be alright. I came in with an injury, and we will undergo more tests and see how it looks. But I will be okay."
Pickett ended the contest with 143 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interception.
Will Kenny Pickett play in Week 18?
It's still early days, but there's a distinct possibility that Pickett will start the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the New York Giants in Week 18. Pickett is optimistic about playing in the game, and it's unlikely that the Eagles will want to risk rushing Jalen Hurts back to the gridiron.
Hurts remains in the concussion protocol after suffering a scary-looking head injury against the Washington Commanders. He needs to clear the league's five-step protocol before he's allowed to participate in another matchup.
Third-string quarterback Tanner McKee might start the first game of his NFL career against the Giants. McKee put up 52 passing yards, two TDs and zero picks against the Cowboys. He'll be a safe starter if Pickett cannot shake off his injury issues in time for the game against the Giants.
