According to Pro Football Network, Kevin O’Connell is paid between $3 and $5 million per year by the Minnesota Vikings.

Kevin William O’Connell, popularly known as Kevin O’Connell or KOC is an American football head coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. The 6 ft 5 head coach was a signal caller for La Costa Canyon High School before making his way to San Diego State University where he spent 5 years. After getting selected in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft by the New England Patriots, he spent his rookie season as a backup to Tom Brady. After appearing in two games that season, O’Connell found himself as an offseason or practice squad member on various occasions with different franchises for the rest of his NFL career.

The Knoxville, Tennessee native started his second career as a coach by providing mentorship to some high-profile clients like Johnny Manziel and Marcus Mariota as a private quarterbacks coach in California. The 39-year-old (as of December 2024) got his first breakthrough in 2015 when the Cleveland Browns signed him as their quarterbacks coach. After spending one year with the San Francisco 49ers as special projects coach, he spent his next three years in D.C. serving as quarterbacks coach for the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders). He made one final trip to California in 2020 to serve as an OC under Sean McVay and help the LA Rams win the Lombardi Trophy before finally heading to Minneapolis to serve as the HC of the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. O’Connell guided the Vikings to a 13-4 record and an NFC North crown in his first year as a head coach, but Kirk Cousins’ in the following season led to Minnesota finishing with a disappointing 7-10 record in 2023. However, KOC is back to his offensive genius once again in 2024, as he has the Vikings sitting second in the NFC North with an 11-2 record in early December.
