The Buffalo Bills' perfect start to the current season came to an end as they lost 35-10 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. To make matters worse for the Bills, their top wide receiver, Khalil Shakir, hurt his right ankle early in the game.

Due to the injury, the third-year WR missed a few plays while getting his ankle re-wrapped on the sidelines, but he was able to finish the game despite appearing uncomfortable. He also exited the field wearing a walking boot.

The extent of Shakir's injury is still unknown, but coach Sean McDermott gave an update at his Monday media conference.

“Khalil fought through it; it’s one of those situations, we’ll see how he does this week taking it one day at a time,” McDermott said. “I’ll let you know each day how he’s trending, I know he’s really sore this afternoon.”

It might be disturbing that Shakir appeared to be wearing a walking boot following the game, but the fact that he was able to play again on Sunday night after initially suffering the injury indicates that it won't keep him out of the game for long.

Fantasy managers don't need to worry about Khalil Shakir just yet, as his fitness will be assessed during the week. The wide receiver's recovery will be further illuminated by the Bills' first injury report of the week, which is set to be released on Wednesday.

Shakir, who has contributed significantly to the Bills' offense this year, will try to recover this week ahead of Sunday's Week 5 matchup with the Houston Texans.

Khalil Shakir injury update: What happened to the Bills' WR?

Khalil Shakir sustained an injury while making his second reception of the Week 4 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. He was tackled by Baltimore's linebacker duo of David Ojabo and Roquan Smith following an 8-yard catch.

Shakir sat back down on the field after picking up the injury and was evaluated by athletic trainers.

The 24-year-old WR eventually made his way off the field slowly before receiving care from trainers on the sidelines. Early in the second quarter, he returned to the game after having his right ankle wrapped.

Shakir played till the end after he returned to the field, but he had limited impact. He was also seen in a walking boot after the game.

The Boise State alum had set an NFL record with his first reception of the game before he got injured. He grabbed his 28th consecutive regular season pass thrown to him, surpassing Michael Thomas' run of 27 catches in 2018.

During his media availability on Monday, Sean McDermott discussed Khalil Shakir's record-breaking performance. According to the coach, the record, along with the wideout's desire to keep playing after sustaining an ankle injury, perfectly explains his character to work.
