Baltimore Ravens fans got a big scare in the second quarter of their Thursday's Week 10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals when star safety Kyle Hamilton sustained a non-contact ankle injury.

In his postgame media briefing, Ravens coach John Harbaugh disclosed that Hamilton just had an ankle sprain, indicating that the injury is not as severe as it initially appeared, even though the player didn't return to the game that evening.

Additionally, the coach said he is unsure about the 23-year-old safety's possible return timeline.

The fact that Hamilton's injury isn't as severe as initially believed is encouraging, as he has been one of the few bright spots in the Ravens' mainly lackluster defense this season.

Hamilton came into the league as the 14th pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Since his rookie season, he has solidified himself as an essential component of the Ravens' defense. He was selected to his first career All-Pro team in 2023. This season, he has been outstanding again with 67 total tackles, five passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The Ravens felt the impact of Hamilton's absence right away against the Bengals. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase produced all three of his touchdowns in that game following the All-Pro safety's exit.

The sooner Hamilton returns to the field, the better for the Ravens.

Kyle Hamilton injury update: What happened to the Ravens' safety?

Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton left the game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night due to what looked like a non-contact leg injury. Late in the first half, Hamilton's leg turned while he was trying to make a tackle, and he fell to the ground instantly.

Hamilton subsequently limped off the field, clearly in pain, and entered the blue medical tent. It was promptly revealed that he was not going to be able to play the rest of the game due to an ankle injury.

Kyle Hamilton recorded two passes defended and four tackles before leaving the game in the first half.

Following his team's 35-34 victory over Cincinnati, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Hamilton's injury "is not a serious ankle injury." The coach added that he doesn't think Hamilton will be sidelined for too long.

According to NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport on Friday, Hamilton's injury appears to be less serious than it could have been and was only a sprain rather than a break.
