While the Tight End position is invaluable on the field, rarely do you see a college product come in with a game as refined and finished as Kyle Pitts did in 2021. After playing both tight end and defensive end during his days at the Archbishop Wood Catholic High School, Pitts moved on to the University of Florida to start his collegiate career.

While initially starting in a backup role at Florida, he eventually moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore. Over the course of the year, he recorded close to 650 yards and 5 touchdowns en route to a First-team All-SEC selection. In the COVID year, Pitts truly left an indelible mark on the collegiate ranks, recording 12 touchdowns in just 8 games, while adding 770 yards, close to 100 per game. For his efforts, he became a unanimous All-American. Moreover, he also won the John Mackey Award as the best tight end in college football.

Widely considered NFL-ready, Pitts would get selected fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, a mark that landed him as the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history. Immediately, he validated those high standards.

Kyle Pitts’s Jersey Number

After wearing 84 frogs tenure at Florida, the NFL's relaxation of players wearing single-digit numbers allowed Kyle Pitts to jump at the opportunity and select the number 8 for his tenure with the Atlanta Falcons. Starting off, he was immediately productive, setting the Falcons franchise record for receiving yards in a single name in Week 7. By the end of the year, his sensational play had him in best TE in football conversations as he became the second rookie to record 1,000 receiving yards. For his incredible play, Pitts earned a Pro Bowl selection, the first in 20 years. Further, he was also a member of the All-Rookie team.

Unfortunately, continuous injuries marred his 2022 campaign before he was ultimately shut down to repair his right MCL. Ultimately, he ended up playing just 10 games for partly 356 yards as he came in and out of the lineup. After coming back fully healthy in 2023, Pitts went on to have a bounceback year where he ended up with 667 receiving yards and three touchdowns (career best).
