Kyler Cole Murray is an American football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, as of the 2024 NFL season. The Cardinals selected Murray with the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. According to Spotrac, Murray signed a five-year contract extension with the Cardinals valued at $230.5 million in 2022. As a rookie, he debuted against the Lions and was named the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, also earning a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. He also earned the Pro Bowl honors in 2020 and 2021.

As a collegiate athlete, Murray played for both the Texas A&M Aggies and the Oklahoma Sooners football teams, representing Texas A&M University in 2015 and the University of Oklahoma from 2016 to 2018. According to Oklahoma’s official website, Murray won several awards in 2018, including the Heisman Trophy, Davey O'Brien Award, and Manning Award. He was also named the AP College Football Player of the Year and Big-12 Offensive Player of the Year. Before committing to Texas A&M, Murray played high school football at Allen High School, where he graduated as a consensus five-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals, Scout, and 247Sports.

Kyler Murray Injury History

According to the Cardinals' injury report for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season available on their official website, Murray was reported to have suffered a knee injury. Earlier in the 2022 season, he was placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL, and suffered an ankle injury in 2021. During his rookie season, he suffered a hamstring injury in a game against the Los Angeles Rams, but he chose to continue playing.

Ankle Injury (2021)

During the 2021 NFL season, Murray helped the Cardinals reach a 7–0 record before Week 8. However, he got injured during the last minute of their Thursday Night Football game against the Packers. He suffered an ankle injury, leading him to missing three weeks. He returned in Week 13 against the Bears, recording 123 passing yards, 59 rushing yards, and scored four touchdowns in a 33–22 win.

He concluded his regular season with 3,787 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, and 5 rushing touchdowns in all 14 played games. He also earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection.

Knee injury (2022)

During the 2022 NFL season, Murray suffered a season-ending injury against the New England Patriots in Week 14. He was placed on injured reserve on December 14, 2022, after tearing his ACL. In the 11 games he played, Murray recorded 2,368 passing yards, 14 touchdown passes, and 7 interceptions, along with 88 carries for 418 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.

He entered the 2023 NFL season on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list and was activated in November 2023, playing his first game after 11 months against the Falcons.
