On Sunday, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals hosted the Seattle Seahawks in a divisional duel for the top spot in the NFC West standings.

The two teams have swapped places over the past fortnight with their contrasting fortunes. The Seahawks came into this game on a three-game winning streak, that saw them steal the lead in the race for the division title from the Cardinals, who have lost two straight.

Murray's numbers looked decent in both losses, but they didn't translate into wins for his teams, which is the only that matters this late in the season. Arizona hoped their quarterback would come through and help them end their losing streak with a win over Seattle and keep their hopes of a playoff berth alive. But did he deliver?

Kyler Murray Stats vs. Seahawks in Week 14

Here are Kyler Murray's numbers from the Arizona Cardinals' 30-18 loss in Week 14 to the Seattle Seahawks:

  • Completions: 25
  • Pass Attempts: 38
  • Passing Yards: 259
  • Passing Touchdowns: 2
  • Interceptions: 2
  • Rushing Attempts: 3
  • Rushing Yards: 16
  • Rushing Touchdowns: 0

The quarterback helped his team get off to the perfect start as they scored in their opening drive of the game, courtesy of a 41-yard catch-and-run by Michael Wilson.

However, things spiraled quickly from that point. On a 2nd-and-19 play in the Cardinals' second drive, Murray tried to find rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. on a crossing route but threw it straight into the waiting arms of linebacker Ernest Jones, which set up the Seahawks' go-ahead touchdown.

In the subsequent drive, Murray committed another massive error, as his underthrown pass to wide receiver Zay Jones was picked off by cornerback Coby Bryant.

The Seahawks' offense capitalized on the terrific field position that their defense gifted them for the second time in as many drives and scored another touchdown. Late in the third quarter, Murray did ignite hope of a Cardinals comeback after connecting with running back James Conner for a two-yard touchdown.

However, Seattle's defense held firm and pitched a shutout in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The loss saw the Cardinals drop to 6-7, two games behind division leaders, the Seahawks, who also hold the tiebreaker between the two teams. It was a crippling blow to Arizona's odds of earning a playoff berth, one they'll likely not recover from.
