The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 26-19 to close out their preseason. The Cowboys and Trey Lance had enough opportunities to win, but the quarterback threw three interceptions on three straight drives to end the game.

There were some obvious positive signs from Lance, but the turnovers will downplay all of that. The Chargers' defense stepped up in the fourth quarter and made big plays to help the team win its first game under Jim Harbaugh.

Trey Lance completed 33/49 throws for 323 yards with one touchdown and five interceptions. He also rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. For the Chargers, Easton Stick completed 12/29 of his throws for 187 yards, one touchdown and an interception.
The story could have been slightly different had Lance played with the starting offensive line. He didn't have much time to throw the ball and had to use his legs to extend the play. Although some interceptions were unlucky, he still needs to work a lot on his game.
Lance's performance has given leverage to Dak Prescott ahead of his impending free agency decision next year. The Cowboys start their season with a trip to the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.

The game was all about Trey Lance, both in positive and negative regards. He threw five interceptions but still made some dynamic plays. He looked quite good on his feet and had a 46-yard rushing touchdown.
Lance will learn a lot from this matchup and hopefully get better as the season progresses. If he wants to remain in the league, his accuracy needs to improve, but Jerry Jones will be excited to see the dual-threat tendencies of the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback which were on full display.
Lance's progression through the upcoming season will be critical in determining Dak Prescott's future with the franchise.
