The LA Chargers vs. New England Patriots matchup continued Week 17 of the 2024 NFL season after two games on Christmas Day and the regular Thursday Night Football duel. These teams entered the game with different aspirations, as the Chargers tried to keep their playoff chances alive while the Patriots just tried to give more reps to Drake Maye in one of the last two games of the season.

LA Chargers vs. New England Patriots game recap
After an 11-play, 91-yard drive, Justin Herbert found Derius Davis in the end zone with a 23-yard pass. Cameron Dicker connected the extra point to give the Chargers the 7-0 lead.
Cameron Dicker completed another impressive drive by the Chargers that couldn't end with a touchdown.
A 27-yard kick gave the AFC West team a 10-0 lead. At 2:55 in the second quarter, Herbert connected with Ladd McConkey for a six-yard pass to extend the lead to 17-0. Drake Maye and DeMario Douglas responded with a 36-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 17-7.

Cameron Dicker scored the last three points of the first half with a 38-yard field goal to give the Chargers a 20-7 advantage.
Los Angeles started the second half just like they finished the first, with Ladd McConkey catching his second touchdown pass of the day, this time a 40-yard bomb from Justin Herbert at 7:37 in the third quarter.
Dicker added another three points with a 41-yard kick before JK Dobbins extended the lead to 37-7 with a two-yard rush at 11:58 in the fourth quarter.
Dicker finished a terrific afternoon with another field goal, hitting a 35-yard kick to take his team to 40 points.
