Lamar Jackson is an American football quarterback playing for the Baltimore Ravens franchise in the NFL. The Ravens drafted Jackson in the 2018 NFL Draft with the 32nd pick of the first round. As of January 2025, Jackson has already won two NFL MVPs in 2019 and 2023 in seven seasons in the league. As of Week 18 of the 2024 NFL season, Jackson threw for 20,059 yards with 6,173 rushing yards and 199 total touchdowns. His career-best marks in passing yards (4,172), and touchdowns (41) came in the 2024 NFL season.
Lamar Jackson played college football for the Louisville Cardinals from 2015 to 2017. During his sophomore season in 2016, he recorded 3,543 passing yards, 1,571 rushing yards and a combined 51 touchdowns, leading him to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award and received unanimous All-American honors in 2016. He also attended the Boynton Beach High School where he was honoured with the Lou Groza Awards High School Player of the Year.

The Florida native attended the University of Louisville and played quarterback for the Cardinals football team from 2015 to 2017. His freshman season was decent enough, as Jackson played in 12 games. He tallied 1,840 yards and threw 12 touchdowns against 8 interceptions. On the ground, he added 960 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
During his sophomore year, Jackson was handed over the starting job and he did not disappoint. He played in all 13 games and had 3,543 passing yards to go along with 30 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also added 1,571 yards on the ground and ran for 21 touchdowns. In 2017 as a junior, he passed for 3,660 yards with 27 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, Jackson added a further 1,601 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Once again he was in the hunt for the Heisman Trophy but this time he finished third in voting behind Baker Mayfield and Bryce Love.

Born in the city of Pompano Beach, Florida, located just north of Fort Lauderdale, Jackson went to Boynton Beach High School. During his high school days, he produced 2,263 yards and 31 touchdowns against 9 interceptions. Jackson also rushed for 1,624 yards and 22 touchdowns.
ESPN.com and 247Sports rated Jackson as a three-star recruit but Rivals.com had him as a four-star recruit. He got offers from several universities but signed with the University of Louisville as he was promised the quarterback role by the football team’s head coach (via Sports Illustrated).
