Much has been made about the fact that Lamar Jackson doesn't have an agent. Throughout the entire saga with the Baltimore Ravens, it's been brought up at every point. The former MVP was trying to secure a long-term, mostly guaranteed contract without an agent.
It might have cost him. He's now officially requested a trade because he can't get the Ravens to seriously entertain his contract requests. He's asked for things since the last offseason that the team just isn't giving him. Perhaps a skilled negotiator could have made some headway and maybe things wouldn't be as dire as they are now.
However, not having an agent may also be hurting him in other ways. Agents don't just negotiate new contracts. They do a lot of things, including securing endorsements. Come to think of it, why aren't there any Lamar Jackson commercials, shoes or anything else? Perhaps because he doesn't have an agent.

Why doesn't Lamar Jackson have the endorsements he should
Lamar Jackson should have countless endorsements. He's arguably the most electric player in football and a supremely recognizable face. Him showing up in a commercial wouldn't have hardly anyone asking who they were seeing on-screen.
Additionally, he should have athletic equipment lines. He should have a shoe deal, especially.
Via ProFootballTalk, former NFL player Andrew Hawkins said:
“Are we REALLLLYYYY suppose to believe that Lamar Jackson .. human video game… the best running QB in the history of the NFL… couldnt get a shoe deal with any brand he wanted??!! I had a shoe deal…lol.”
This is all likely because he doesn't have an agent. He, as an NFL player, doesn't have contacts in that industry like an agent does. He doesn't have the time or ability to reach out and secure as many deals as he should have.
An average NFL player has tons of endorsements, so why doesn't a former MVP? Because he doesn't have an agent. Making guaranteed money on a contract is good and it makes some sense that Jackson is asking for it.
But when it comes to true net worth, most NFL stars' net worths are driven by endorsements. Tom Brady has a net worth of $270 million. That comes from a lot of endorsements, more so than his lengthy football career of contracts.
Jackson's net worth is around $6 million. With the proper amount of endorsements, it could be so much higher.
