Lamar Jackson Number

Lamar Demeatrice Jackson Jr. is an American football quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. The Ravens drafted Jackson with the 32nd pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Jackson had 1,201 passing yards, 695 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns during his rookie season in the NFL. He also became the youngest quarterback to start in an NFL playoffs game. As of October 2024, Jackson won NFL MVP Award and Bert Bell Award twice in 2019 and 2023 respectively. He also received three Pro Bowl honors and two First-team All-Pro honors in 2019 and 2023 as well.

Lamar Jackson played for the Louisville Cardinals during his collegiate career from 2015 to 2017. During his sophomore season in 2016, he recorded 3543 passing yards, 1571 rushing yards and a combined 51 touchdowns, leading him to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award and received unanimous All-American honors. He also received ACC Offensive Player of the Year, ACC Player of the Year and First-team All-AAC honors twice in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Lamar Jackson wears jersey number 8 for the Baltimore Ravens. According to Baltimore Ravens' official website, Jackson made an appearance in the 'Lounge' podcast, where he explained he will change his jersey number to 1 if he wins a Super Bowl. He said: "I want to win a Super Bowl with No. 8 on – do as much as I can with No. 8 on – and then come back and do the same thing with No. 1 on. I'm dead serious. I want to retire No. 8 and No. 1."

Jackson wore the jersey number 8 even during his collegiate career with the Louisville Cardinals. His mother explained the number 8 in the Bible symbolizes new beginnings, which led to Jackson stick with the symbolism and the jersey number.
