Laremy Tunsil has just been extended by the Houston Texans. The left tackle, who will be tasked with protecting whichever quarterback the Texans select with their number two overall pick, has received a very nice pay day.
Per Ian Rapoport, Tunsil's extension makes him the highest-paid tackle in NFL history.

"Per Saint Omni, Texans star LT Laremy Tunsil is once again the highest-paid tackle in NFL history, securing a 3-year deal worth $75M with $50M fully guaranteed and $60M in total guarantees. The blindside protector does a true reset on the market. Tunsil represented himself."
Tunsil has reset the left tackle market in a record-setting deal. He has been a reliable lineman for a while now and is part of one of the Texans' very few strengths. In turn, and after representing himself (with no agent), gets the extension he deserves.
Which rookie quarterback will Laremy Tunsil be asked to protect?
Laremy Tunsil, for the foreseeable future, will be tasked with protecting the future of his franchise. The Houston Texans will draft a quarterback at number two overall unless something unpredictable happens.
They'll likely pick whoever is left after the Carolina Panthers select one of Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud. Anthony Richardson is an enticing pick and arguably has the highest ceiling (and the most athletic ability) of any prospect.
However, he's pretty raw. He needs a good offensive coach to guide and mold him more so than other prospects, so the Texans will likely pass. For what it's worth, the Panthers might take him and leave the Texans with their pick.
The Texans hired Demeco Ryans, and he's a former defensive coordinator. He's not the most equipped to shape a raw quarterback prospect, so they'll likely lean towards a more established prospect.
They probably prefer Bryce Young. His size is an issue for a lot of teams, but with someone like Tunsil to protect him, the Texans might not be as worried about him getting hit one too many times.
Either way, it will more than likely be Young or Stroud at number two overall, giving Tunsil a new charge.
