In a clash of former crosstown interconference rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders hosted the San Francisco 49ers in their first in-game action since declaring former Pro Bowler Gardner Minshew their starting quarterback for the 2024 season.

Hoping to preserve their new main man's health, however, the Raiders ran third-stringer Nathen Peterman for the game. The 49ers, meanwhile, opted to play starter Brock Purdy.

Ultimately, both teams would have to settle for a 24-all draw; however the score belied what happened in the final minute

Las Vegas Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers preseason week 3 summary

The 49ers opened the scoring with a 49-yard field goal by Jake Moody. Four minutes later, Jordan Mason rushed four yards for the night's first touchdown. No other scoring playes occurred after that.

The second quarter began with Chris Smith II intercepting Brock Purdy, but nothing ultimately came of it.

Eventually, Tyreik McAllister returned a punt 81 yards for the Raiders' first points of the night. But just as quickly, the 49ers responded 93-yard kickoff return by fourth-round rookie Isaac Guerendo that perfectly set up a three-yard rush by Patrick Taylor.

Just before the first half expired, Nathan Peterman found Kristian Wilkerson for six from three.

The Raiders finally took the lead in the second half via a 35-yard catch by McAllister. But Jacob Cowing responded for the 49ers by catching a ten-yarder from Joshua Dobbs at the start of the two-minute period of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was initially marked by two turnovers: a forced fumble by the Raiders on John Samuel Shenker, then the 49ers' Darrell Luter intercepting Carter Bradley at the end-zone on 4th-and-goal in the fourth quarter. Eventually, with just seconds left and after a frantic drive that included a monstrous catch by Ramel Keyton, Daniel Carlson tied the game with a 43-yard field goal.

But that would not be the end of the madness, as the 49ers attempted one last desperate and ultimately failed drive that involved multiple laterals and fumblerooskis:
