Loren Strickland's injury status

According to CBS Sports, Loren Strickland is out of the Lions' season opener against Los Angeles. The safety did not practice all week due to a thumb injury, so being ruled out for Detroit's Week 1 Sunday contest comes as no surprise.

To further compound issues for Detroit, its reserve safety is currently listed as doubtful.

Ifeatu Melifonwu's injury status

According to the Lions' website, Ifeatu Melifonwu is currently listed as questionable to play in the first game of their season. The backup safety is suffering from an ankle injury.

On Friday, when asked about Melifonwu's availability, Lions coach Dan Campbell reported that he wasn't likely to play in Week 1.

"We’ll see. I’m not as optimistic about him, but we’ll see," Campbell said.

Los Angeles Rams injury report for Week 1

The Los Angeles Rams have five players currently listed on their injury report ahead of their Week 1 showdown against Detroit. Guard Jonah Jackson, wide receiver Puka Nacua and cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Tre'Davious White made the list but went into the game without a designation.

However, offensive tackle Rob Havenstein is questionable to play in his team's season opener.

Rob Havenstein's injury status

Rob Havenstein participated in training only limitedly throughout the week. The Rams' starting right tackle is dealing with an ankle injury ahead of Game 1.

Havenstein isn't certain to play on Sunday, but the Los Angeles Rams are yet to rule him out. However, if he does miss the matchup, expect Warren McClendon Jr. to start at right tackle.
