Listing the top 5 Green Bay Packers trade targets before NFL Deadline Day

NFC Championship - Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have seen better starts to a season in the past. They aren't used to being in such a precarious position just days before a trade deadline. So you wouldn't blame a Green Bay Packers fan for being baffled at the current happenings in Green Bay Packers, as they would be oblivious to such a feeling.

This franchise went from having a proven top dog in Brett Farve to having a league legend like Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Hence, underperforming seems alien to the Green Bay DNA. However, the 2022 NFL season has not been kind to the Packers. The team's 3-5 start and four-game losing streak showcases just how dire the fortunes are.

The top 5 Green Bay Packers targets before Deadline Day

As such, the Green Bay Packers must make the best use of the upcoming trade deadline and snag up a piece or two that would transform their luck. So without further ado, here are five players that the Green Bay Packers brass should target.

5. Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots

Coach Bill Belichick does not keep players that are not useful to his system. He prefers to trade them, build with what he has, and afflict the trading team with a player in decline. So the Green Bay front office might be wary of trading for Kendrick Bourne.

However, if the trade does happen, Aaron Rodgers can work with a league-proven pass catcher with way more ability than his 2022 season numbers showcase. In addition, Bourne can plug up a hole at wide receiver 1 or 2 that has been gaping since Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling moved away from Green Bay.

4. D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are in rebuild mode, and the franchise is not hiding the fact. Since Matt Rhule was fired and Christian McCaffrey was traded away, the Panthers have essentially written off the 2022 NFL season, focusing on the next ones to come.

However, a player with DJ Moore's ability must be a contender. What's more, the 25-year-old veteran is racking up successive 1,000-yard seasons, catching the ball from some of the most random quarterbacks in the league. Now, imagine what he would do with one of the game's greatest-ever shot callers slinging the rock to him.

3. Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

The memes are there, the body language is off, the vibe is forced, and Broncos county is an absolute mess. Jerry Jeudy must be one of the most frustrated wide receivers out there, as the wideout was obviously expecting to have a breakout year with Russel Wilson as QB.

However, the reverse has been the case, and there have been loads of rumors that Jeudy has played his last snap on the Broncos. Hence, the Green Bay Packers could not do much worse than adding Jeudy to their offence, a significant upgrade to the ones at the franchise right now. What's more, it looks like Jeudy is on board with the entire trade if it does happen.

2. Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans

Another fantastic player stuck on a basement franchise, Brandin Cooks, is a solid option at wide receiver 1 or 2, but he doesn't seem to be getting the looks he deserves over there at Houston. The veteran wideout has totaled over 1,000 receiving yards on every franchise he has been a part of, and his form doesn't seem to have dwindled too much lately.

An offense with Brandin Cooks catching passes and Aaron Rodgers slinging the rock looks quite enticing. Fingers crossed, the Green Bay Packers can make a deal structured to accommodate his massive $18 million salary.

1. Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers

The 6-foot-4, 238-pound wide receivers shouldn't be this good at receiving the ball, but Chase Claypool is not your average receiver. The wide receiver in a tight end's body is one of the hardest players to defend against in the league. This is evident by his 144 receptions for 1,958 yards and 12 touchdowns stat line in just two-plus seasons.

Claypool won't come cheap, as the Steelers would expect a king's ransom for the 2020 second-rounder, but if the Green Bay Packers can pull it off, they would have finally gotten a top-notch number-one wide receiver for the back-to-back league MVP, Aaron Rodgers.
