Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave will make his much-anticipated return to action on Monday against the New Orleans Saints. The second-year player hasn't played since Week 4 due to an ankle injury that required surgery.
Musgrave's return arrives at a perfect time for Green Bay. With a victory over New Orleans, the Packers can clinch a playoff spot, and his presence strengthens an already potent offense.
"I think our timeline was set aggressively but doably," Musgrave said on Friday, via SI. "The thought was to be back for the latter few games of the season."

The TE has battled through a demanding rehabilitation process. His progress accelerated after the Packers designated him for return on Dec. 11, filling the team's vacant 53rd roster spot.
During his initial practice week, Musgrave focused on individual drills, particularly blocking techniques. This week, he gradually progressed to full 11-on-11 participation, clearing his final hurdle for game action.
Luke Musgrave's path back from recovery to Return
The former second-round pick's return adds another weapon to Jordan Love's arsenal. Before his injury against Minnesota, Luke Musgrave averaged 27 snaps across four games, although his playing time had decreased from his rookie season's 66% snap share to 39%.
He showcased his potential in his rookie campaign. Musgrave matched Bubba Franks' franchise rookie TE record of 34 receptions, despite missing six games with a lacerated kidney. He also contributed six catches, 66 yards and a TD in the playoffs.
"Obviously, another vertical at a different position that I think can really stretch the field," Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said on Friday. "Obviously blocking. He does a good job blocking."
Tucker Kraft has emerged as Green Bay's primary TE during Musgrave's absence, recording 41 catches for 555 yards and seven TDs. However, Musgrave's versatility offers new strategic options.
"I can play hard and I'll do whatever plays they want me to do," Musgrave said. "If that's blocking, if that's route running, if that's whatever. Whatever they have me doing, I'll do."
The mental challenge of rehabilitation tested Musgrave's resilience.
"Definitely been challenged mentally," Musgrave said. "Injuries are the worst part of the game, but I think you've just got to stick them out, find little victories in the rehab."
The Packers plan to ease Musgrave back into action, mindful of his recovery from ligament surgery. His return completes Green Bay's offensive arsenal for its final playoff push.
