Malachi Moore is an American football player who played for the University of Alabama in 2023. As a senior, Moore had the option to enter the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, but he has decided to return to college for another year. Moore’s decision seems to come from the fact that he is not a lock for the first round.

Moore is currently 22 years old as of February 2024. He was born in Trussville, Alabama on September 13, 2001. Some of the most eye-popping aspects of his game are his physicality, athleticism, and discipline. His speed is a huge bonus for him as he can not only match the receivers down the field but can also close down on them quickly off the snap.

While there are many positives to his game, he also has his fair share of weaknesses that need to be addressed. For starters, he isn’t able to read routes as well as he should and his recovery speed is not up to the mark. Overall, Moore is a solid defender who just needs to iron out a few things for the next level.

Moore entered college football in 2020 and became a starter in his true freshman year at the University of Alabama. He was having an excellent freshman year starting 11 games for the Crimson Tide before he got injured and had to miss the playoffs.

Despite the injury, he was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and the second-team All-SEC. His stats during his freshman season read 44 total tackles, nine passes defended that included 3 interceptions and 6 pass breakups.

In 2021, as a sophomore, he continued to play well but his overall stats dropped off. He did start all 15 games for the Crimson Tide that year. His junior year in 2022 was again a good one as he had 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks to go along with five pass breakups. One of the key plays he executed was a blocked punt that resulted in a score from three yards out.

As a senior in 2023, he finished his final year of college with 52 total tackles out of which five went for a loss of yards.

Malachi Moore High School

Moore’s first experience at school-level football came when he joined Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, Alabama. While he only played on the defensive side of the ball, he did have a dual role as he alternated between playing the cornerback and the safety positions.

Most of the major scouting websites had Moore as a four-star player by the time he finished his high school football career. Even though other websites rated him fairly well, 247Sports had him as the third-best player in Alabama and the 8th best safety in that class.

Moore had a huge senior year where he registered a total of 83 tackles out of which five were for a loss of yardage. He also added four interceptions out of which he took two of them to the house for touchdowns. Before joining the Crimson Tide, Moore also received offers from other Universities such as Georgia, Auburn, and Arkansas.
