Earlier on Tuesday, the Atlanta Falcons announced that they have released Marcus Mariota after just one season.
The quarterback signed with the team as a free agent last offseason but had a rather underwhelming stint in Atlanta. However, fans have been curious to learn how much Mariota earned during his one-year stay with the Falcons.
According to reports, the player signed a two-year, $18,750,000 deal with the Falcons in the 2022 offseason. He was given a $5,000,000 signing bonus, $6,750,000 guaranteed, and was on course to earn an average annual salary of $9,375,000.
However, the Atlanta outfit decided to cut short Mariota's stay with the team after just one year. Reports from Spotrac claimed that the 29-year-old earned $6,750,000 during his sojourn with the Falcons.

Moreover, the Falcons still owe Mariota $2,500,000 in dead money. Hence, the quarterback will receive a total of $9,250,000 from the team. Interestingly, he played only 13 games of the regular season before the Falcons decided to bench him.
How did Marcus Mariota fare for the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 season?
Marcus Mariota had a disappointing spell with the Atlanta Falcons last season. He threw for 2,219 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions, at a 61.3% pass completion rate.
He led the team to a 5-8 in 13 games, but was benched for the remaining games after the bye week. The Falcons then started rookie Desmond Ridder in their final four games of the regular season.
Atlanta eventually finished fourth in the NFC South with a 7-10 record.
Mariota will now enter NFL free agency looking for his fourth professional team. He was signed by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL draft and spent five seasons with the franchise. In 2020, he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders and served as a backup to Derek Carr before joining the Falcons in 2022.
