Matthew Stafford is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams as of the 2024 NFL season. The Detroit Lions selected him with the first overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. The 36-year-old (as of January 2025) was born in Tampa, Florida, on February 7, 1988. He attended Highland Park High School. Coached by Randy Allen, he earned recognition on the Parade All-America Team. In 2005, he stood out at the EA Sports Elite 11 Quarterback Camp, winning the MVP and Best Arm awards. He ultimately earned the title of 2005 EA Sports National Player of the Year. He committed to the University of Georgia, where he achieved more accolades along the way. The recipient of the MVP of the 2009 Capital One Bowl award attended the University of Georgia, where he played for the Bulldogs from 2006 to 2008. He finished his collegiate career with more than 7,700 passing yards and 51 passing touchdowns, per Sports Reference. The 2011 NFL Comeback Player of the Year spent his initial 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions before coming to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 offseason. The two-time Pro Bowler has nine seasons of 4,000 or more passing yards under his belt in his illustrious 15-year career by the end of the 2024 regular season along with Super Bowl LVI. Matthew Stafford played in 16 games for the Rams in the 2024 regular season. He threw for 3,762 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Stafford maintained an average of 7.3 yards per attempt, and his passer rating stood at 93.7 during the season (via Pro Football Reference).
