Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, like most of the NFC's other playoff teams from last season, have struggled in 2024. Injuries to wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, along with issues on the offensive line, have not helped the Rams' cause, but they entered Thursday's game against the Minnesota Vikings with a chance to notch consecutive wins for the first time this season.

And they did just that, thanks to a deep punt by Ethan Evans in the last two minutes that pinned the Vikings well behind their end zone, allowing Byron Young to register a sack safety on Sam Darnold — albeit amid some controversy.

So how, did Matthew Stafford fare in the game?

Matthew Stafford stats tonight vs. Vikings

Here are Matthew Stafford's stats for Thursday night's game"

  • Passing attempts: 34
  • Completions: 25
  • Passing yards:279
  • Touchdowns: 4
  • Interceptions: 1
  • Sacks taken: 0
  • Rating: 128.2

In a classic slugfest, the former Detroit Lion benefited from the return of his primary receiving weapons to get the win. Sophomore Puka Nacua dominated with 106 yards from just seven catches, while Cooper Kupp had five grabs for 51, including one of the Rams' touchdowns.

Demarcus Robinson scored in both of his catches, while Kyren Williams had one TD as well. The last multi-catch player, tight end Colby Parkinson, had two for 17.

Credit should also be given to the offensive line. A depleted and banged-up unit managed to hold one of the best defenses so far without a sack, allowing Stafford to feed his receivers with impunity and Williams to almost hit 100 yards on over 20 carries.

The team's only lowlight was a Camryn Bynum interception early in the third quarter; but even then the Vikings could not fully capitalize, having to settle for a field goal on the ensuing drive.

The timing of this win is also significant, as Kupp has been facing rumors of a trade out of Inglewood. In response to these, he said on Tuesday:

“I’ve got to control what I can control. And right now that means being the best L.A. Ram I can be and I’m going to continue to do that.”

The Rams next visit the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 3.
