Max Melton was taken by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2nd-round of 2024 NFL draft as the 43rd overall pick. He played as a cornerback for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He is 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) tall and weighs 190 lb (86 kg). Max Melton was a standout high school athlete before attending Rutgers University. This outstanding performance was not overlooked, as he was named All-Big Ten, a remarkable accomplishment for a rookie. Looking back on his sophomore year in 2022, Max demonstrated his disruptive presence on special teams.

He led the country with three blocked kicks, drastically altering the course of games and generating scoring chances for his teammates. While special teams were his calling card that season, he also excelled in coverage, intercepting two passes and breaking up another ten. This well-rounded effort solidified his standing as a conference star, earning him All-Big Ten recognition once again.

As a junior in 2023, he established himself as a defensive leader. He led the team with three interceptions, cementing his reputation as a ballhawk with a nose for the football. This outstanding effort earned him All-Big Ten honours, demonstrating his growth into the conference's finest cornerback. He appeared in 43 games, starting 40 of them at cornerback.

Throughout his career, he recorded an impressive eight interceptions, exhibiting a talent for reading quarterbacks and making turnovers. In addition, he intercepted 22 passes, effectively shutting down opposition aerial attacks. Max was more than simply a covering expert; he also had a superb tackling technique, recording 114 tackles over four seasons.

He wasn't hesitant to go rough at the line of scrimmage, recording nine tackles for loss. His flexibility went beyond tackling; he earned a sack and recovered four fumbles. Finally, Max proved to be a disruptive force on special teams, which is a key skill that is sometimes ignored. He showed excellent athleticism during his career, blocking a total of four punts.
