Mekhi Wingo is a defensive tackle in American football who has spent the last three years playing collegiate football. After forgoing his senior year of college, Wingo has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Wingo has proven especially over the past two years in college football that he is one of the more tougher defensive tackles to block. His ability to time and again get to the quarterback has been a huge boost for LSU on defense. And while he may have only 7.5 sacks to his name in two years at LSU, he was always a menace disrupting the signal callers rhythm and forcing him out of his comfort zone.
Wingo has got power and quickness on his side, especially his lateral quickness which allows him to rush the pocket. He hustles around the blockers to beat them and his athleticism could pose problems for many guards on the O-line. However, where he falls short is his size which for his position is slightly below the average. There is a good chance that bigger guards may be able to have their way with him which is something he will have to navigate in the NFL.
