A tri-sport athlete from the New Jersey area, Michael Bachley was a standout at Summit High School and is the younger brother of Peter Badgley, a lacrosse legend for Providence College. He chose to play for the University of Miami, where he became the school's all-time leading scorer and was also a member of the 2017 All-ACC team while winning the Walter Kichefski Award.

The team’s starting kicker for his entire 4-year tenure, he left the school with the career record in field goals and points scored. During his time there, he would finish with an extra point percentage completion of 96.1% while netting close to 80% of his field goals.

After we contracted and signed by the Indianapolis Colts, he was eventually released before the season began and found his way to the Los Angeles Chargers. A phenomenal rookie season saw him set the Chargers franchise record for the longest field goal at 59 yards while becoming a prominent part of the offense during the playoffs as well.. At the end of his tenure with the Chargers, where he spent just one full season, he had become the team’s 19th leading scorer.

After a brief spell on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad, he would make his way back to the Indianapolis Colts, this time as a player, finishing this season with remarkable efficiency. He was not brought back and went on to play one game for the Chicago Bears before finding a home with the Detroit Lions.

A brilliant season saw him become an integral part of the offense as he was consistent from both the extra point mark and as a field goal kicker. Despite being resigned, he was released a few months later and bounced around with the Washington commanders and another stint with the Tennessee Titans before making his way back to the Detroit Lions where he’s become important to the team’s playoff aspirations.
