Michael Jerome Oher is a former football offensive tackle who played in the National Football League for eight seasons with the Ravens, Titans, and Panthers.

Oher was born on May 28, 1986, in Memphis, Tennessee, and had a rough childhood growing up. His mother was addicted to crack cocaine and his father was in and out of prison often. Oher met his adoptive parents Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy in 2004, who took him in and changed his life.

Oher went to Briarcrest Christian School, where he played football for the first time. He was a terrific athlete in school and took part in the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl after his senior year. He went on to play collegiate football at the University of Mississippi, where he earned unanimous All-American honors. Oher was subsequently selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. His career highlights include winning the Super Bowl XLVII, being voted into the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2009, winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy in 2008, two Firs-team All-SEC selection in (2007 & 2008) and one Second-team All-SEC selection in 2006.

Oher is currently retired. He is married and has four children. He spends his time aiding multiple charities. Oher also strives to provide educational opportunities to children in need through his foundation: The Michael Oher Foundation.
