Mike Evans has been a 1000-yard machine over the course of his career. However, with the receiver getting on in years, a seed of doubt has been planted for fantasy managers. Will 2024 be the year the 30-year-old finally takes a step back?

A lingering question is: Should you draft the Buccaneers WR in 2024? Simply put, yes, Evans should be a target for fantasy managers, just as much as Baker Mayfield. While the risk of injury or decline is increasing with age, it's a risk worth taking this season.

Here's an in-depth look at the wide receiver's fantasy prospects for 2024:

Sportskeeda's Fantasy Simulator predicts Evans is set to earn about 1,150 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. According to Fantasy Pros, the player is expected to be selected between the 30th and 36th picks, depending on the scoring system. Evans will be a hot commodity, roughly drafted as the 15th receiver on average.

This is predictable, considering his 2023 production. Last year, he earned 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns, making it one of the top three seasons of his career.

Drafting him as soon as possible might be a bit overzealous, but when simply looking at the player in general, he is a great selection. While reaching for him is an option, it would require an active decision to do so.

Where should you draft Mike Evans this year?

Evans should be selected as a WR2 in most lineups, meaning managers should have at least one receiver they expect more from than Evans. That said, if their running backs are stacked, using Evans as their top receiver isn't the worst move.

The perfect time to draft Mike Evans would be around the third round in a 12-person league. If there's an early run on receivers like CeeDee Lamb and Tyreek Hill, it might be worth getting him earlier. Either way, getting a player who has never had a sub-1000-yard season provides one of the most reliable floors in the league.
