One of the more underrated names at the Wide Receiver position is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mike Evans. As a high schooler, his football career first began in his senior year, as he focused on basketball and track beforehand. However, his brilliant play earned him second-team District 24-4A honors thereby ensuring a recruitment offer from Texas A&M.

Michael Lynn Evans III was born on August 21st, 1993, in Galveston, Texas where he spent the vast majority of his pre-NFL career, both in high school and at the collegiate level. After redshirting his freshman year, he received freshman All-SEC honors the following season. He set the record for most yards in the school's history multiple times over. First, at 279 then doubling over his efforts with a 287-yard game. He made the All-SEC first team before he decided to focus on the NFL draft by foregoing his final two years. However, he was still touted as a consensus top-10 overall pick.

The Buccaneers cashed in on that promise, drafting Evans with the 7th overall pick. He was highly productive as a rookie, becoming the youngest player in NFL history to record 200 or more yards in a game. He even tallied Randy Moss' tally of three consecutive 100-yard and 1 touchdown games. His sensational rookie season earned him a place on the All-Rookie team.

After an uneventful second year, Evans enjoyed a career year 3, that included a "catch of the year" nominee. He also became one of four players with 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. For his efforts, he was selected for his first career Pro Bowl. He continued his 1,000-yard streak the next year, this time joining an elite list of three.

With an $82 million contract extension for five years came another strong season from Mike which included a franchise-record-setting 16th 100+ yard game. He continued his 1000-yard streak as well and became the record holder for most yards in a single season for the Bucs while earning his second Pro Bowl selection.

Despite a slow start to the 2019 campaign, he recovered tremendously and would once again tally 1,000 yards for the year, earning his 3rd Pro Bowl selection in the process. His next season, the first with Tom Brady on the roster, saw him gain immediate postseason exposure, as well as success. In the regular season, however, he was just as sensational, setting the Buccaneers' franchise records for touchdowns in a season while becoming the first player in league history with 7 consecutive seasons with a 1,000-yard minimum to start off his career.

In his first Playoff game, he set the franchise record for receiving yards in a playoff game. He was critical in the Super Bowl as well, ensuring a 31-yard gain in addition to the four penalties he drew that led to Evans winning his first Super Bowl.

He continued his 1000-yard streak, extending the number to 8, and earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection. The past season saw him record 1,124 yards to reach 9 consecutive seasons with 1000+ yards to start off his career, one of the most remarkable feats in NFL history. In the 2023 season, Evans recorded his tenth consecutive season with over a 1,000 receiving yards.

It is this high level of output that has the Bucaaneers franchise putting their trust in him. As a result of which Evans has earned another two-year deal worth $41 million that will see him in Tampa till 2026.

What is Mike Evans' Height?

Mike Evans has a recorded height of six feet five inches or 1.96 meters. His height puts him way above the average height of a Wide Receiver in the NFL. As a result, it has allowed him to enjoy a remarkable career so far in the NFL.

While his height advantage gave him an added benefit, it hasn't been the sole source of his success. A remarkable athlete, Evans was a track and field star prior to taking up football in his senior high school year. That talent has translated exceptionally well to the NFL level, earning him a Super Bowl championship in addition to 4 Pro Bowl appearances. Moreover, his athletic prowess, combined with his height advantage has allowed him to become the first, and only, player in league history to start off his career with 10 straight years of 1,000 receiving yards or more.
