McCarthy has been coaching in the National Football League for more than two decades now. He has worked in multiple different coaching positions and used that time to enhance his coaching abilities. Now in 2023, he serves as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Michael McCarthy always loved this sport and he wanted to be a part of this precious sport in a way that would allow him to make a difference. So he decided to pursue a career in coaching. McCarthy also played college football with the Fighting Artichokes football team for one season in 1986. Even though his college career was short it sure was sweet. In his college career, he was a two-time all-conference selection and was also named the team's MVP in 1986. His professional career as a coach in the NFL began when he was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as their offensive quality control coach in 1993. As the years went by McCarthy joined and guided many teams like Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers. After years of hard work, McCarthy was finally given the position of head coach when he joined the Green Bay Packers in 2006, and as their head coach, he led them to a Super Bowl win in 2011. In 2018, McCarthy was released by the Packers. After taking a year-long break he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as their head coach in 2020.
