During the first quarter of the game, both teams were competitive with each other. It was held between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals on February 1, 2009, to establish the 2008 NFL season champion. During the first quarter, Steelers players like Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, and Heath Miller kept the Cardinals at bay.
Jeff Reed also scored an 18-yard goal to get a 3-0 lead against the Cardinals. In the second quarter of the game, the Steelers focused more on their defense.
