New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams appears to have recovered from an ACL tear he suffered early in the 2023 season. Coach Robert Saleh has said that the frequently-injured receiver will play for the Jets in Week 1 of the 2024 regular season.

Williams was placed on the PUP list by the Jets at the start of training camp. He has since primarily worked out alone, but he participated in team drills this week, which was the first significant indication that he almost recovered.

Williams has made great progress toward his rehabilitation, and in the offseason, he talked about his goals.

"I want to win a Super Bowl and get healthy — I mean, I'm going on Year 8," Williams said on The Adam Schefter Podcast. "I will stop at nothing to achieve my goal of winning a Super Bowl. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be the kind of last team standing and raise the trophy at the end. I also want to be able to play every game. Those are my season-long goals.”

Mike Williams injury update: What happened to the WR?

Mike Williams, while playing for the Los Angeles Chargers, suffered a knee injury in Week 3 of last season against the Minnesota Vikings. Afterward, he was declared out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

The Chargers ultimately cut Williams at the end of the season. He had caught 15 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown in the first two games before his injury.

Mike Williams, a Clemson alumnus, was selected by the Chargers with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. In seven seasons, he has achieved two 1,000-yard campaigns, the most recent in 2021.

The Jets signed Williams to a contract this offseason with the hope that he can recover from an injury-shortened 2023 season.

This season, Williams aims to establish a noteworthy role among the Jets wide receiver group. He will be among Aaron Rodgers' weapons in 2024, along with Garrett Wilson, Xavier Gipson, Allen Lazard and rookie Malachi Corley.
