Miles Sanders has not had the year he expected to when joining the Carolina Panthers. He's been hurt and ineffective. He missed their last game, and fantasy managers still hoping he can play up to his pre-draft positioning are looking forward to his return so he can try. What's the latest on his status?
Miles Sanders injury update
Miles Sanders was dealing with a shoulder injury in practice leading into Week 6. He was ruled out of that game and had to stay on the sidelines. The Carolina Panthers had a bye week the next week, so he wasn't going to play regardless.

After two weeks off, it appears that Sanders is healing. He's still on the injury report, but the expectation is that he will play again this week. It's been a tough year health-wise and performance-wise for the back, but he should be back on the field.
Monitor his status as he has been banged up virtually all year, but he's a safe bet to play this Sunday.
What happened to Miles Sanders?
Nothing specifically happened to Miles Sanders in-game. The veteran back was not taken off the field during his last outing against Detroit Lions. This is a shoulder injury that came up in practice after the game. It was enough to hold him out of Week 6.
Sanders had another bad game, but he didn't have to leave for health concerns. He was unable to practice after the game and did not play the following week. It's unclear if he would have played had the Panthers not had an off week, but he got the time off to heal anyway.
He's been dealing with a variety of maladies this year. Hardly a week has gone by without a "Questionable" designation for the veteran running back. He's Questionable again this week, but he is probably going to suit up.
When will Miles Sanders come back?
Given that Miles Sanders was out against Miami Dolphins and then had a bye week, it's safe to say he's probably coming back this week.
Against the Houston Texans, it appears their new signing will be on the field. How much he will play and how healthy he truly is remains to be seen. Nevertheless, even though Sanders is expected to return, he's not a great fantasy option.
The Panthers offense has largely been uninspired and not at all creative, especially in the run game. Thomas Brown is taking over playcalling out of the bye, but it remains to be seen what impact he will have.
Despite having a rookie quarterback in Bryce Young, they don't lean on Sanders. Additionally, Chuba Hubbard looks much better when given the ball. He's averaging 4.5 yards per carry, while Sanders is mustering up a measly 3.1.
Hubbard had 88 yards and a touchdown in Sanders' absence, a better game than the former Eagle has had all year. Until the backfield situation is clear, look for other options.
