Minnesota Vikings vs. Atlanta Falcons game summary

The Atlanta Falcons took the lead in the first quarter when second-year pro running back Tyler Allgeier rushed for a 6-yard touchdown. Younghoe Koo converted the extra point.

The Vikings struck back when Darnold connected with Jordan Addison on a 49-yard touchdown. Will Reichard converted the extra point. The first quarter ended with both teams locked at 7-7.

The Vikings then took the lead in the second quarter after Darnold linked up with wideout Justin Jefferson for a 12-yard TD. Reichard converted the extra point. The Falcons cut the deficit when Koo made a 20-yard field goal just before halftime.

The Vikings led 14-10 at halftime.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the second half when Koo made a 29-yard field goal. Minnesota responded with Darnold combining with Jefferson for a deep 52-yard touchdown pass.

Atlanta drew level when Bijan Robinson rushed for a 13-yard touchdown. The Falcons went for a 2-point conversion with Robinson which was successful. After the third quarter, the scores were locked at 21-21.

The Vikings retook the lead in the fourth quarter when Darnold linked up with Jordan Addison for an 11-yard touchdown pass. Darnold and Addison combined for another 6-yard touchdown to pull further away from Atlanta. The Vikings sealed the win when Aaron Jones Sr. rushed for a 15-yard touchdown.

Minnesota improved to an 11-2 record after its 42-21 victory.
