The Minnesota Vikings played the San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 2. Both teams had dominant wins in Week 1, and Sunday's game was expected to be a test for both.

The 49ers were without Christian McCaffrey, who was placed on the injured reserve this past week. He could miss up to six weeks, and, in his absence, Jordan Mason has the opportunity to cement his place in the lineup.
Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold was flawless in Week 1 against the New York Giants. He delivered another strong performance to lead the Vikings to a big win against his former team in Week 2.

Vikings vs 49ers summary
NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings - Source: Imagn
Similar to last year, the Vikings pulled off an upset over the 49ers. Brock Purdy and the 49ers' offense once again struggled against Brain Flores' defense.
Ad
Unfortunately for the Vikings, Justin Jefferson suffered a quad injury in the second half. His status will be monitored ahead of their Week 3 clash with Houston.
Jefferson has started the season well and scored a 98-yard touchdown today.
Moreover, Jordan Addison also didn't play in Week 2, and the NFC North franchise could be in trouble if their star receivers face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
As for the 49ers, the entire offense needs to bounce back when it faces the Los Angeles Rams next week. Kyle Shanahan needs to get the best out of Brandon Aiyuk, who hasn't had the best of starts to his season.

With McCaffrey's return date uncertain, the 49ers will continue to rely on Jordan Mason, who had another solid game with 100 rushing yards, and a touchdown on 20 carries.
