The Minnesota Vikings had a chance to finish first in the NFC, but they had to settle for fifth place after losing to the Detroit Lions in the regular season finale. Instead of receiving a bye, they will now meet the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Monday in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
The Rams will play their first playoff game at home, despite finishing the season with four fewer wins than the Vikings. This is because, following their NFC West division win, Los Angeles was seeded fourth.

Due to a knee injury, outside linebacker Pat Jones II was officially ruled out of last Sunday night's game against the Detroit Lions and he did not practice on Thursday either. Jones was unable to play in the regular season finale because of a knee injury he sustained against the Green Bay Packers in Week 17.
After being unable to practice on Thursday, it remains to be seen if the linebacker will return to practice on Friday or Saturday. If he doesn't, he might have to sit out against the Rams.
The Vikings will rely heavily on rookie Dallas Turner against Los Angeles if Jones, who has seven sacks and nine total tackles for loss this season, is unable to play on Monday.
Veteran running back Aaron Jones was listed on the injury report on Thursday because of a quad issue. He played against the Lions last Sunday, recording 10 touches for 45 yards, despite suffering a quad contusion against the Packers in Week 17.
Despite his limited participation in Minnesota's first practice of the week, Jones is unlikely to miss the game against Los Angeles, assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
The four other players listed on the team's injury report on Thursday were able to log full participation, so it doesn't appear they are at risk of missing the wild-card round game. Those players are quarterback Sam Darnold (quad), cornerback Fabian Moreau (hip), tight end Josh Oliver (wrist), and defensive lineman Taki Taimani (ankle).
