Week 17 of the 2024 fantasy football season concludes with a Monday Night Football showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions. This week represents the championship round of the fantasy playoffs in many leagues, so managers must make sure to make the right picks for the last game of the slate. Here are some of the best targets and fades.
Week 17 MNF 49ers vs Lions Fantasy Football Start 'Em picks
Deebo Samuel is having a disappointing 2024 fantasy football season, but his volume in recent weeks has suggested that a breakout could be coming. He has exceeded eight targets in each of his past three games, which resulted in a much-needed WR5 finish last week.

This was his first top-20 finish in his past eight games, but in a favorable matchup against a Detroit Lions defense that has struggled against wide receivers, he is a solid player to target for Week 17 lineups.
Another player who has been trending in the right direction in recent weeks is Sam LaPorta, who has finished as the weekly TE11 or better in each of his past four games. This has helped him to bounce back to an overall TE9 ranking so far this year, making up for his slow start after his impressive TE1 finish last season.
He is also averaging eight targets per game across the past three weeks, so he is one of the best overall tight ends to consider this week.

Week 17 MNF 49ers vs Lions Fantasy Football Sit 'Em picks
Patrick Taylor served as the 49ers' featured running back last week, but he failed to capitalize on the additional workload. He totaled just 25 scrimmage yards and finished as the weekly RB56 in fantasy football. This was an extremely disappointing result for managers who were counting on him, and with Isaac Guerendo expected to return this week, Taylor is off of the fantasy radar.
He is joined by Craig Reynolds, who also failed to make the most of an elevated role for the Lions last week. David Montgomery suffered a season-ending injury, elevating Reynolds to their RB2 slot.
The Lions' offense has consistently supported two running backs in fantasy football, but after totaling just 23 scrimmage yards last week, he can't be trusted in lineups this week.
