Shaquan Montez Sweat, popularly known as Montez Sweat, plays as a defensive end for the Chicago Bears in the NFL. Before being traded to the Bears in 2023, he played for the Washington Commanders from 2019 to 2023. He was selected by the Commanders in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Sweat attended Stephenson High School situated in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where he began playing football. After finishing high school, he initially committed to playing college football at Michigan State University (MSU). He played for the Michigan State Spartans from 2014 to 2015 before transferring to Copiah–Lincoln Community College for the 2016 season. He later left Copiah–Lincoln Community College to join Mississippi State University, where he played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs for two seasons. Additionally, he earned a place on the first-team All-SEC consecutively in 2017 and 2018.
As of the 2023 NFL season, he has recorded a total of 222 tackles and 41.5 sacks. Following his impressive performance during the 2023 NFL season, Sweat earned his first Pro Bowl selection.
