Najee Harris and David Montgomery - two players who play in the same position albeit on different conferences, each as the big-bodied, bruising "thunder" as part of a dynamic duo. But that is where the similarities end.
One has been a perennial thousand-yarder ever since he entered the league; the other has hit the mark only twice in his career. And yet one of them has a future beyond the 2024 season; the other may need to find a new home.
Wth all that said, who between them is a better fantasy investment?

Is Najee Harris a good fantasy pick in Week 3?
Ahead of the matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, there were fears that Najee Harris would not be around after being seen wearing a sling on Monday. But Mike Tomlin has assured that he will be playing. And he expects Harris to have many opportunities to rush, as only two Colts defenders have been good so far: defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and cornerback Kenny Moore II.
This season is the last on his rookie contract after the Pittsburgh Steelers declined to invoke his fifth-year option during the offseason. That development is somewhat surprising given his consistent prolificness (at least on the ground), but it speaks to the organization's belief that Jaylen Warren is their running back of the future.
If Harris delivers a monster performance on Sunday, it should prove a warning sign to management that they will be missing out on a bruising cornerstone.
Is David Montgomery a good fantasy pick in Week 3?
In 2023, the Detroit Lions surprised everyone by drafting Jahmyr Gibbs, even though that had just given David Montgomery a contract extension. That decision proved wise, as each had at least a thousand yards from scrimmage and ten touchdowns - the first time a pair of running backs had done this in the NFL.
It is now 2024, and both are still going strong. Montgomery in particular had a major rebound last time in Glendale, dominating the Arizona Cardinals' overmatched defense wth 105 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. And against the Seattle Seahawks, he has a favorable matchup against a front seven that is still looking for an identity post-Bobby Wagner.
Whom should I pick between Najee Harris and David Montgomery?
In one of the closest matchups on Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Tool, both running backs end up in an 11.8-point tie. But ultimately, it is David Montgomery proving the wiser pick by virtue of his yards (both rushing and receiving) and rushing touchdowns.
Nevertheless, either of them can be a strong addition to Week 4's fantasy team, with big numbers against relatively shallow front sevens aplenty.
