Stephon Gilmore finally has a new NFL home. The star cornerback was unsigned well into the NFL preseason but finally landed with a new team. The Minnesota Vikings scooped him up for one season and up to $10 million in salary. Gilmore gets a late start but he will be on a roster at the start of the season, something that wasn't guaranteed.
Gilmore's contract with the Vikings has $7 million guaranteed. He figures to be a key piece of a defense that will try to help offset the loss of starting quarterback JJ McCarthy for the year. Gilmore has been successful in almost every place he has played, and will try to continue that in Minnesota. Fans had their say on the signing.

"Vikings must didn’t watch the playoffs last year vs the Packers, Doubs getting 100 free ones [twice]," one fan trolled.
"Damnnnn Browns cooked them so bad in practice they went and signed Gilmore…nice!" another exclaimed.
"Gonna get worked by Malik Nabers week 1 unfortunately," one said.
"You would think he would wait this long to sign with a better team," one remarked.
Gilmore is entering his 13th season. He played for the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts previously, making five Pro Bowl teams.
Stephon Gilmore reunites with Brian Flores
Brian Flores ascended to head coach with the Miami Dolphins before being fired and replaced by Mike McDaniel. Flores tumbled very far, as he ended up being a linebacker coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers after that.
He has worked his way back up and is currently the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. This season, he will reunite with Stephon Gilmore. The cornerback played under Flores, who was part of the New England Patriots coaching staff for two of Gilmore's four seasons with that team.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell, said via ESPN:
"I've had a ton of respect in Stephon Gilmore's career, playing against him. This is a guy that's done it at a really high level for a long time."
Gilmore had surgery over the offseason to repair a torn labrum.
