The Patriots won the toss and chose to defer. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye got his first start for New England, while C.J. Stroud led the offense for the Texans.

Patriots vs. Texans game summary
The Texans opened the scoring when Stroud connected with Tank Dell for a 2-yard touchdown pass with 9:13 remaining in the first quarter. Ka'imi Fairbairn converted the extra point.
Houston extended its lead when Stroud picked out Joe Mixon with a 10-yard touchdown pass. Fairbairn converted the extra point to give the Texans a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
New England got on the scoreboard just before halftime when Maye combined with Kayshon Boutte for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Joey Slye converted the extra point, but the Texans led 14-7 at the interval.
The Texans came out firing in the third quarter and Stroud found Stefon Diggs with a 10-yard touchdown pass just 92 seconds after the restart. Fairbairn converted the extra point and then made two field goals (39 and 46 yards) to give Houston a 20-point lead.
The Patriots looked for a way to get back into the contest after Maye threw a 6-yard TD pass to Hunter Henry. Slye converted the extra point but New England still trailed 27-14 after the third quarter.
The Texans looked to put the game beyond their opponents when Mixon rushed for a 20-yard touchdown. However, the Patriots responded when Demario Douglas caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Maye with 9:24 remaining in the game.
Houston resumed its 20-point lead within a couple of minutes when Dameon Pierce rushed for a 54-yard touchdown. Fairbairn converted the extra point which thwarted any hopes of a New England comeback.
The Texans improved to a 5-1 record with a 41-21 win over the Patriots (1-5) in Week 6.
