The San Francisco 49ers played against the New England Patriots at home in Week 4. Both teams were coming off back-to-back losses, and the 49ers desperately needed a win.

Christian McCaffrey was still out for San Francisco, but Deebo Samuel and George Kittle were back after not playing in Week 3 each due to injuries.

Jacoby Brissett remained the Patriots' starting quarterback. Despite the demand of many fans, the franchise will continue to wait before making Drake Maye their starting quarterback.

The 49ers won the game 30-13.

The 49ers led by 20-3 at the end of the first half. Their defense dominated the first half with star linebacker Fred Warner returning an interception for a touchdown. Rhamondre Stevenson also fumbled the ball earlier in the game, marking his fourth consecutive game with such an error.

The Patriots did score a touchdown to start the second half, but the 49ers managed to maintain a comfortable lead over them throughout the game.

Patriots vs 49ers summary

San Francisco 49ers v Los Angeles Rams - Source: Getty

The 49ers returned to winning ways with a dominant win over the Patriots. Although Brock Purdy threw an interception, he had a solid game. Given how many injuries they have dealt with so far, San Francisco will not be unhappy with a 2-2 start to the season.

Wide receiver Jauan Jennings continues to impress everyone, giving players like Aiyuk, Kittle, and Samuel time to return to their usual standard of play. The 49ers will face the Cardinals next week, and they will be firm favorites to win that game.

The Patriots' offense once again struggled, and it will be interesting to see whether the franchise will look toward Drake Maye earlier than sooner. There is no denying the Patriots do not have a good group of skilled players to help their quarterback, but Maye's explosiveness and ability to make plays with his leg might be helpful for the team.

Their next game is against the Miami Dolphins, and if the offense continues to struggle, there will be immense pressure on head coach Jerod Mayo and the organization to put Maye on the field.
