The New Orleans Saints will try to recover from their dismal performance at Green Bay when they play the Las Vegas Raiders at Caesars Superdome in Week 17. They lost 34-0 to the Packers in primetime last week.

The Saints may need to get some of their key players back on Sunday in order to put up a strong comeback performance. Therefore, we shall review the team's injury report before the game.

Saints injury report for Week 17

The injury report released on Wednesday was an approximation because the New Orleans Saints did not practice. However, the team held a practice session on Thursday, and there's no significant difference from the one released a day before.

The Saints recorded four players as DNP in practice on Thursday, including QB Derek Carr (left hand), RB Alvin Kamara (groin), C Eric McCoy (elbow), and G Lucas Patrick (knee).

Four additional New Orleans players were also limited in practice on Thursday: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest), DE Payton Turner (ankle), TE Juwan Johnson (foot), and DT Nathan Shepherd (eye).

The only player who appeared on the Saints' injury report as a full practice participant on Thursday is wideout Chris Olave, who was listed with a head injury.

Derek Carr injury update

The New Orleans Saints practice reports on Wednesday and Thursday listed Derek Carr as a nonparticipant. However, interim coach Darren Rizzi is still hopeful that the quarterback will play this week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Due to a concussion and hand injuries sustained against the New York Giants in Week 14, Carr has missed both of the New Saints' most recent games. His left hand ailment has prevented him from practicing this week, even though he has already recovered from the concussion.

Rookie Spencer Rattler will make his fifth start of the season if Carr is unable to play due to the hand injury this week.

Alvin Kamara injury update

Due to a groin issue, Alvin Kamara was classified as DNP on the Wednesday and Thursday injury reports. Coach Darren Rizzi, in contrast to Carr, seemed pessimistic about the running back's prospects of playing against the Raiders.

Kamara suffered a groin injury two weeks ago during the second half of the game against the Washington Commanders. He also missed last week's game against the Green Bay Packers due to the injury.

If Kamara doesn't make it this week, it would be disappointing as he is just 50 yards away from having his first 1,000-yard rushing campaign.
