Even though the Washington Commanders have not won their division, this will be considered a successful season for the franchise, no matter what happens in the playoffs. The 12-5 record and the discovery of Jayden Daniels already have the Commanders looking at a bright future.

They're not considered favorites against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but after such a great year, and riding a five-game winning streak, the Commanders are dangerous. And former defensive end Chris Long, who won multiple Super Bowls during his career, has warned the fans about Washington's potential:

I think Washington, the way they can get hot, can certainly ruin a team's day. Philly, they could certainly say if Jalen Hurts is on the field and matchup to win that game. But at the same time, Jayden Daniels and a lot of it was the Eagles mistakes, kind of torched them. So that's a dangerous team.

Chris Long knows a lot about playoff runs. During his meritorious career, which started as the second overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, he spent a big part of it with the Los Angeles Rams, but he did not have much success during his time there.

However, he later moved to the New England Patriots in 2016 and was part of the roster that created the Super Bowl's greatest comeback against the Atlanta Falcons, with the famous victory after starting with a 28-3 deficit.

A year later, he moved to the Philadelphia Eagles and won another Super Bowl, curiously defeating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. He played another season for the Eagles in 2018 before calling it a career.

Who will the Washington Commanders play in the Wild Card Round?

The Commanders will start their playoff run against the Buccaneers during the Sunday Night Football in the Wild Card Round. If they advance, their future opponents will depend on who wins the other games.

If the Packers defeat the Eagles, then it will be a Divisional Round game against the winner of Vikings/Rams. However, if the Eagles defeat the Packers, a more likely result, Washington will play against the Detroit Lions.
