Tedy Bruschi won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and sees the Chiefs seeking to do something they never achieved by winning three straight championships. The former linebacker believes it will come down to the smart moves being made by the Kansas City coaching staff as they aim for a historic three-peat.

Bruschi said that one of the biggest problems the Chiefs faced offensively for most of the season was that Patrick Mahomes did not feel safe in the pocket and had to scramble and extend plays. However, he thinks that has been solved by moving Joe Thuney from the guard position to the left tackle. The Super Bowl-winning linebacker said that it has made the blindside impenetrable for the last two games, noting,

"The biggest problem was solved by the coaching staff to move Joe Thuney from his guard spot all the way to his tackle spot. In the last two games, 47 pass block plays. 41 pass block wins, zero sacks allowed. And that's that's just not the performance on the field of it. Didn't we see Mahomes a few weeks ago taking off from the pocket because he knew he had no confidence? He didn't have any confidence."

Tedy Bruschi calls Joe Thuney's move season-saving for Chiefs

Anybody who sees the Chiefs with a 14-1 record will not think they have had too many problems to overcome this year. However, Kansas City have become masters of winning close games and a lot of it is down to their defense. At any point, though, one felt that their luck could run out, which in the playoffs would mean elimination.

However, Tedy Bruschi feels that Joe Thuney's changed position has altered all of that and saved the Chiefs' season. He went on to say,

"But you see Thuney right here, over and over again. Patrick said it himself he could play all along that offensive line. He knows Thuney has that that left tackle position anchored down now, and now he's willing to stay there longer because of the confidence. That's a season-saving move right there."

Patrick Mahomes has had high praise for Joe Thuney, as highlighted by Bruschi, but he himself is showing symptoms of peaking at the right time. The Chiefs quarterback was at one point leading the league in interceptions but he has eight touchdowns and no picks in the last five games. It is an ominous sign for the rest of the league as Kansas City chases as three-peat.
