San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward is heading into a contract season in 2024. The 28-year-old is currently playing on a three-year deal worth $42 million and could make even more when it comes to his next contract.

During his appearance on the "Up and Adams Show" on Monday, Kay Adams asked him about heading into his contract year and if he was ready for a big contract, to which he replied affirmatively. Ward expressed his readiness to secure a lucrative deal and aims to have an even better season than he did in 2023.

Adams: you got a contract year huh?

Adams: How are you feeling about it? This isn't the first time your time, you've gotten several bags
Ward: This, the one I'm currently on right now has been my deal so far. I just got to go out there and have my best year, be better than last year. Take care of myself and hopefully, I get that bag next year. We'll see.

In 2023, despite dealing with an injury towards the end of the season, Ward started all 17 regular season games with 56 tackles, 23 passes defended, five interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown.

Ward's current contract with the 49ers came after four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. The former undrafted free agent won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs in February 2020.

49ers Charvarius Ward confirms he will be ready for training camp

In December 2023, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward suffered a groin injury in a game against the Seattle Seahawks. Ward continued to start the remaining four games of the regular season as well as his three postseason appearances for San Francisco.

This offseason, Charvarius Ward underwent surgery to repair his injury and has spent the last few months rehabilitating. On Monday, he told Kay Adams that he continues to get better each day and that he is nearing 100%. While he isn't ready to participate in offseason workouts just yet, he did set a timetable for himself, confirming that he will be ready for training camp this summer.

"So I'm almost at 100 percent. I'll be ready for training camp, fasho."

Ward also told Adams that he was in immense pain throughout the postseason which affected his stomach and back as well. The cornerback now hopes to return to the 49ers better than ever and get another lucrative contract.
