Deebo Samuel could not catch a break from fans after dropping a crucial pass in the second half of the game between the 49ers and the Rams. With the weather playing spoilsport and defenses coming out on top, the first half had featured 11 punts as both teams struggled to score a touchdown.

With the chances to get into the endzone few and far between, both sets of players knew that they had to seize every opportunity. Yet, with the game tied at 3-3, Deebo Samuel did just that. Brock Purdy found him with a sweet throw that he could have taken all the way for a touchdown score as there were no defenders in front of him.

Perhaps the receiver got too excited and he never got control of the ball. It ended up as an incomplete pass and Kyle Shanahan elected to go for a field goal instead. What could have been seven points for the 49ers instead ended up as three. It was a reprieve for the Rams.

Deebo Samuel, however, got no such respite as the fans as they slammed him for his carelessness on X/Twitter. Here are some of the responses from the social media platform.

The comments continued with a lot of people saying that he is washed with a couple of fans saying that his contract needs to be restructured. Here are some more reactions.

"I said look ma no hands" - joked one.
"Cut or restructure" - said another.
"That play (missed play)will lose the game for the niners" - predicted a third.

Deebo Samuel fails to take his chances despite past complaints

Deebo Samuel had previously said that he was not struggling. Rather, his numbers were down this season because his teammates were not getting him the ball. That is with Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey both out of the lineup. He had previously clashed with Jake Moody when the 49ers kicker was struggling.

Yet, his form has been appalling throughout the last four weeks. He has less than 100 receiving yards in that period. And it did not look likely that he would have a breakout game against the Rams either. The rain did not help but his drop was completely self-inflicted as it came in the second half when conditions had dried up. He immediately held his head in his hands after missing the catch but fans were in no mood to sympathize with him for his latest indiscretion.
