49ers fans react to Jauan Jennings' $15,400,000 re-signing deal - "Deebo gone" "Aiyuk bout to punch a wall"

Super Bowl LVIII - San Francisco 49ers v Kansas City Chiefs
Jauan Jennings extended his stay with the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers made a move on Wednesday, extending the contract of wide receiver Jauan Jennings for two years and $15,4 million. Jennings was a restricted free agent who was retained by the team, and the extension now clears his way to play in 2024 free of any concerns.

The 49ers are going through a weird time with their group of wide receivers, as Brandon Aiyuk is looking for a new contract while Deebo Samuel has been the subject of trade talks due to his cost. Re-signing Jennings is a good move, but certainly, this isn't the news that the fans were expecting about the wide receiver group.

Jennings is a popular member of the roster with the fans, and plenty of them are happy with the new deal, although they believe this will have ramifications for the other two players.

"So unless Brandon Aiyuk is leaving, why the f*** the 49ers drafted Ricky Pearsall in the 1st? To be a WR4?", said another one.
"How many receivers are they going to be able to pay lol? Got a lot of money on the books. I don’t see Aiyuk getting his $30 million a year there", another had to say.
"If Aiyuk gets extended, then it is going to make the Pearsall pick all the more curious.", said a third one
"Feels about right to capitalize on a good season. Had a great SB because the other two WR were being covered by arguably best secondary in football. Tough player, glad he got something done for this year." was another opinion

Brandon Aiyuk vs. 49ers: Should fans be concerned?

When you look at the salary cap situation of the San Francisco 49ers, it's understandable why they're wary of making any long-term commitment to Brandon Aiyuk.

We have seen plenty of wide receiver trades in the last two years and the reason is simple: you either pay your quarterback or your wide receiver. It's no surprise that names like Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill and A.J. Brown got moved in 2022: you don't want to use such a huge portion of the cap for two players alone.

So, yes, fans should be concerned. Brandon Aiyuk ascended to the condition of number one receiver on the team, making plays with his speed, agility and underrated route-running. If he leaves, the team will miss him a lot.
