While there have been rumors regarding the San Francisco 49ers trading WR Brandon Aiyuk, earlier today, the team signed free agent Robbie Chosen. Chosen worked out with San Fran yesterday, and according to Tom Pelissero, he signed with the 49ers despite having multiple offers.
This comes in lieu of rumors that the team will trade wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who has requested a trade from the team amid contract talks.
Upon learning that the 49ers signed veteran Chosen, fans on social media think that Chosen could be Aiyuk's replacement. Fans think that with the addition of a veteran wide receiver, it could be another step closer to facilitating a trade for Aiyuk.

Here's how fans reacted:
"So this almost confirms Aiyuk to the bills," one fan speculated.
"Ayiuk is GONE," one person wrote.
"Aiyuk to Steelers confirmed," one fan said.
Aiyuk has had interest from multiple teams, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders as hottest in the rumor mill.
The Patriots revealed yesterday that they were no longer in the running for Aiyuk after reports surfaced that he didn't have an interest signing with them, despite being offered a top-five contract amongst wide receivers in the league. The Steelers seem to be the favorite, but it seems as if San Fran's asking price may be too high.
Here's how other fans reacted:
"Aiyuk, welcome to Pittsburgh buddy," one fan said.
"Aiyuk to the lions," one fan wrote.
"1 step closer," one fan suggested.
The signing of Chosen doesn't necessarily mean that an Aiyuk trade is going to happen, but it does make the possibility of a trade more likely.
Robbie Chosen joins the fifth team of his NFL career
If Chosen does replace Aiyuk, he will have big shoes to fill. Aiyuk was a Second-Team All-Pro last season, setting a carer-high in receiving yards with 1,342.
Chosen isn't expected to step in and fill that production that Aiyuk had, but he would be expected to havea role in San Fran's offense. He's coming over after being on the Miami Dolphins last season. Chosen only had four receptions for 126 yards which included a 68-yard reception, displaying his potential as a deep threat.
Prior to his stint with the Dolphins last season, Chosen was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. His career highs came in 2020 in Carolina, with 95 receptions and 1096 yards.
Robbie Chosen began his career with the New York Jets in 2016 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. In each of his first four seasons with the Jets, he had at least 500 receiving yards.
