Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will suit up for the first time in what feels like a lifetime when they host the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs. Head coach Andy Reid made the decision to rest most of his starters including Mahomes and Travis Kelce with one eye on keeping his defending Super Bowl champs in top shape for the run-in.

All season long, the Chiefs appear to have been playing in third gear, racking up wins but not exactly impressing most in the league. Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, a four-time NBA champion himself, believes that will play against the Chiefs when they suit up in the playoffs.

Speaking to NFL insider Jordan Schultz on the "Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football" podcast, Green outlined why he doesn't have much faith in the Chiefs going all the way to a historic three-peat:

“They were just getting by. They just know how to win games. But in the playoffs, that will catch you. When you aren’t getting better and you’re just getting by winning gams and not getting better, that’s going to catch you in the playoffs. And it will catch them.”

The Chiefs racked up 15 wins in 17 this season. One of those losses came against the Buffalo Bills while the other one was a Week 18 shutout against the playoff-chasing Denver Broncos where they rested most of their big names.

Kansas City Chiefs handed major boost for NFL Playoffs

In their quest to prove most people wrong (including Draymond Green), the Chiefs were handed a major boost this week as star cornerback Jaylen Watson returned to the fold.

Watson spent the second half of the season on injured reserve after fracturing his ankle in a 28-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. The Chiefs officially designated him to return to the roster on January 3. Watson was a full participant this week which means we will see him on the field when they take on the Houston Texans later tonight. The game will kick off at 4:30 pm Eastern live from Arrowhead and will be broadcast on ESPN.
