15 years ago, Brett Favre was in the final months of his Packers tenure. While Aaron Rodgers waited along with everyone else to learn whether Favre was done. Now, Rodgers is currently in Favre's shoes with Jordan Love waiting in the wings.
Speaking on Aubrey Marcus Podcast via Pro Football Talk and Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD, the quarterback spoke about his experience at the time. Here's how he put it:
“It’s best for anybody who has an interest in this to make a decision sooner rather than later. I remember before [Brett] Favre retired, there were times in April and May, we weren’t sure if he was going to come back because he didn’t come to any of the offseason program."
Will the Packers quarterback call it quits this offseason?

He continued, explaining that 2008 was a stressful offseason:
"Then in 2008, he actually did retire in March and then said, ‘No, no, no,' in June after OTAs, 'I actually want to come back and play.' That’s when he was traded to the Jets. There was obviously a lot of tension that summer for everybody involved directly and indirectly."
The quarterback is still weighing his options almost two months after his final throw of the 2022 season.
Aaron Rodgers matches retired QB Tom Brady in wins in 2022
After years of pundits explaining why both No. 12s are alike in number only, both are staring down retirement at the same time. Tom Brady, having already ripped the band-aid off, is at the beginning of the next big chapter of his life. Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, is still deciding on what he wants to do.
However, both players won the same amount of games in 2022. The Buccaneers quarterback went 8-9 in a year that saw the team hover around .500 for its entirety. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers started high at 3-1 before taking a nosedive to 4-8. As soon as fans wrote off the team, however, they stormed back to just barely miss the playoffs at 8-9.
Will the league lose both No. 12s in the same offseason?
