Aaron Rodgers' playing future is still one of the hottest topics of discussion. With the NFL offseason now in full swing for 30 teams, speculation is rife as to exactly what the Packers star will do.

One such move that had been floated was Rodgers to the San Francisco 49ers. With the 49ers in the same conference as the Packers, it is highly unlikely Green Bay would send its star player to a direct rival.

Who will win the Super Bowl?

Adding to that, Rodgers, while talking to the PA announcer during the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, said that he wasn't going to San Francisco. It was light-hearted but yet people didn't like the comments.

On "The Pat McAfee Show," the Packers star clarified his remarks:

"I couldn't believe it (how his comments took off). No. 1, I couldn't believe that there was that there was, like, a mic that that caught those words as clear. Now, the way that's filmed is, that's filmed, that's taped, obviously. So, there's interaction before and after that time.
"And before, there was a lot of conversation before on air with couple of my buddies I've known for a long time, and he was ripping me about nine years and this and this and blah, blah. And, so, that was just, you know, he had said a few things about the Niners. So, I just kind of fired back and joked back to him.
"You know, nothing against the Niners or anything. It was just – he just – he said some about going by this thought. I'd make a joke back then that I'm not going to the Niners. But didn't realize that was gonna take off like it did."

Where does Rodgers' future in the NFL sit?

The truth is, anyone's guess is as good as anyone else's concering Aaron Rodgers' future. No one really knows, and given that there are so many options on the table, trying to pick exactly what will happen is next to impossible.

A return to Green Bay is likely – so, too, is a move to a different team, which would likely be in the AFC. But retirement is also an option. Having accomplished everything there is in the game, the Packers star has nothing left to prove.

So, exactly where he will be playing, if at all remains shrouded in mystery. He may not play again, but hopefully for the NFL public, they will not have to wait too long to find out.
